Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment
The Community Chest is an accredited public benefit organization and non-profit organization. If a company makes a donation to the Community Chest, they can receive points on their BBBEE scorecard.
The Community Chest focuses on helping previously disadvantaged communities. Socio-economic development or Corporate socio investment (SCI) is one of the simplest routes for companies to “give back” to society and to build a strong image as a caring corporate citizen as well as to earn BBBEE points.
The Community Chest depends wholly on donor funding and donations are tax deductible. Tax certificate will be issued for inclusion in tax returns.
Business enterprises with an annual turnover of between R5 million and R35 million who donate 1% of net profit after tax will receive points towards their BBBEE scorecard. Corporate sponsors will be given a certificate that can then be submitted to a BBBEE verification agency for points on their BBBEE scorecard. |
